Virtual Housewarming Tour (Part One)

Hey, everyone! Welcome to my new home. Since everyone is busy with lots of summer fun, I thought I would host a virtual housewarming party so everyone could see my house at a convenient time. So, grab your favorite beverage and a snack and come see my new digs!
Here is my Living Room
Here is my Dining Room
Here is my "Office"
Here is my Kitchen
Here is my Bathroom
Here are my new Washer and Dryer
Here is my little garden of Tomatoes, Peas, and Orange Bell Peppers
Here is the gate to my yard and the pot that was supposed to have corn in it.
(Somehow the corn seeds I purchased dissappeared).
Here is my patio
Here is the rest of my little yard.
Pictures of the two bedrooms will come in My Virtual Housewarming Tour (Part Two). I just have a couple of finishing touches left to make and then I'll take some pics.

Utah Foster Care Foundation

I have some exciting news! I have recently started the process to become a foster parent. I have completed the first set of paperwork, been fingerprinted, and had my physician sign my medical status form. I attended the first of eight training classes last Thursday. I have given this decision much thought and feel like becoming a foster parent will be a wonderful next chapter in my life. I have no delusions. I know that this will likely be the most challenging thing I have ever done, but I feel like I am as ready as I can be for it.

Get Together

I had my first get together in my new condo a couple of weeks ago. It was rather small since it is summer and people are busy with other things. I am trying to figure out a date to have a bigger get together when most of my friends and family can come to see my new place. Here are some of the pictures I took:

Waterfall Canyon

A couple of weeks ago, I went hiking with my friend, Melissa, to Waterfall Canyon near Ogden, Utah. The hike was awesome! For me it was a true hike with lots of boulders to climb over, a steep terrain, a fast flowing creek that we had to cross using a slippery log bridge, and a breathtaking waterfall. Here are a few of the pictures Melissa took:

SLC 5K

On Saturday, I participated in my 3rd 5K. I ran/walked alongside runners from the SLC Marathon, Half Marathon, and other 5K runners. It was a lot of fun. I completed the 5K in 52 Min 15 Sec. - an average of 16 Min. 49 Sec. per mile. (Not too bad considering that I didn't train at all). I ranked 239 out of 254 for my division. I placed 2174/2388 overall and 1362/1522 for females. I am planning on participating next year as well. Hopefully I will do better. Sorry there is no picture. I didn't have anyone there with me to take one of me.

Condo Crazy

I just bought my first condo about two weeks ago. It is so exciting to have my own place. Since I closed, I have been busy painting, working on my tiny little yard, and making arrangements to have a few renovations made. My friend, Tori has been a tremendous help with all the work. I will officially move in on April 11th. I will post some pictures as soon as I have a chance.

Busy Times

Things have been moving very fast since I moved to Salt Lake. I took a course to become a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) so that I could get a job as a CNA while I worked on finding a job where I could utilize my degree. I got a job quickly at Arlington Hills Health Care Facility as a CNA. Working with the elderly was rewarding and exhausting. I discovered rather quickly that I didn't want to be a CNA for long. Although I had toyed with the idea of becoming a nurse, I decided that I didn't really want to go through that much more school. So, I kept looking for a job in my field and applied at the Utah Food Bank for their Agency Relations Coordinator position. The two interviews went well and I was hired. My first day on the job at the Utah Food Bank was December 23rd and my last day at Arlington Hills was Christmas. I am grateful to have had the experience of working as a CNA and am very grateful to have had that source of income while I looked for my "career" job. So far I am loving it at the Utah Food Bank and feel like the job is a very good fit for me.
